The Kickstarter for Children of Zodiarcs has so far been a HUGE success!!!! We're over 200% funded with 24 days to go until it finishes! So if you haven't yet, there's still plenty of time to pledge HERE.
The outpouring of support has been really amazing, and really makes the past 2 years worth all the blood, sweat, and tears.
Our Greenlight campaign is blasting up the charts. We've moved into the top 20 in under 6 days! Let's see how high we can get. If you haven't already, please vote for us on Greenlight!
Creative Director Jason here.
Things have been progressing very well on the game. Since the last time we chatted we've moved our office into GameplaySpace, have been busy working on a vertical slice, and have also privately shown off the game at PAX Prime 2015.
Hey hi, welcome to the final post in our exploration of character and visual design for War of Zodiarcs! This is the final post, so... I don't know. Get hype? Yeah. YEAH. GET HYPE. IF YOU MISSED LAST WEEK'S POST, READ IT HERE. YEAH.
Welcome back! If you missed the previous update in our five-part series on character/visual design for the Toran Empire in War of Zodiarcs, you can read it here.
Now we’re getting into some more final exploration so it’s time to shift focus a bit. We know what we want to do with the armor. We know what we’re looking to define here are: helmet, shawl, skirt, arm and leg armor. These will be the defining features of the base Toran armor.
Hey hi! Welcome back to our weekly exploration of the Toran Empire's character/visual design in War of Zodiarcs. If you missed last week's post, you can read it here.
In the last exploration, I had the revelation that sheepskin jackets/Mongolian attire was exactly what I was looking for as a point of reference. Back to the reference board!
Hey hi! This is a continuation on our character/visual design process for the Toran army and units in War of Zodiarcs. If you missed the last part, you can read it here!
The last exploration went well. We had some elements we thought were worth exploring, which was the goal. With all that in mind, I took to another round of explorations--this time much faster in iteration.
Hello, hi! Your lovable chucklehead of an artist here at Cardboard Utopia is back to give you another glimpse into the process of making games. This time, I’m going to go over some character design stuff. I’ll be showing some explorations and designs of the Toran, one of War of Zodiarcs’ enemy factions, which includes both defining the look of a single unit and the army as a whole. I hope you guys like fashion~ This is a five-part series that we'll post once a week on Wednesday, so look forward to it!
Hello, hi! I'm Eric, one of the artists here at Cardboard Utopia. You might notice something pretty neat right now—which is that our logo has changed! Oh, boy!
You might be asking yourself some questions about it. Why that logo? What happened to the old one? Did you have any other ideas for a logo? Should I invest in a house right now? If not now, then when?
Firstly, don't buy a house. Rent forever and when that turns sour, transform one of your bookcases into a boat and sail the seven seas. If you don't have a bookcase, you can use your bed. Won't be as poetic, though.
Actually don't listen to my advice, I barely even know what a mortgage is. What I do know, however, is the process we took to make our new logo because I done drew that thing. I thought I'd give y'all a cool little insight into the process, see what goes on in the mind of a designer/artist personman when coming up with this stuff.
